What is the purpose of cell staining buffer and can I use PBS instead? How much cell staining buffer do I need for one sample?
The main functions of Cell Staining Buffer are to maintain cell viability, make cells stable and less sensitive to damage; maximize the intensity of fluorescent signals produced by pH-sensitive fluorescent dyes; reduce non-specific binding of antibodies to target cells; and chelate metal cations to reduce cell-to-cell adhesion. A PBS solution with 1% BSA can be substituted. One sample requires approximately 1.5 mL of Cell Staining Buffer.
